Alanson Wells Chase

Alanson Wells Chase was born August 23, 1852 in Cassville, Wisconsin and departed this life June 7, 1919. In the year 1869 he moved with his parents to Madison county, Iowa.

He was married to Eva C. Gorrell March 10, 1883 to them was born twelve children. The mother, nine children, Mrs. Chas. Kennedy, Mrs. Frank McKirgan, Walter Chase, Mrs. Clarence Meyers, Mrs. Perry Cutshall, Mrs. Stanley Shaw, Pearl, Earl and Harold Chase and four grandchildren are left to mourn his departure; also two sisters, two brothers and one half brother. All the children and one sister and niece from Wisconsin were at his bedside except one daughter, Mrs. Charles Kennedy of Meridan, Idaho, who did not reach here until Sunday evening.

He had been in poor health since last November when he had an attack of the influenza. Since then his health has gradually failed. Four weeks ago he took much worse. Tuesday he was taken to the Mercy hospital where they found he could not live but a short time. Everything that could be done to relieve his suffering was done by loving hands but to no avail, death claiming him Saturday noon.

Fifteen years ago he was converted and gave his life to Christ. At the time of his death he was a member of the Church of Christ here. He was a kind, loving husband and father and a good neighbor. His place in the home can never be filled yet we know he is safe in his father's care.
