Mr. P. M. Hadley Called Home

Mr. Perry Hadley, for almost fifty years a resident in the local community, came to the end of a long and useful life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Minnie Zeliadt in Des Moines at nine-thirty Wednesday morning, having come close to the eightieth milestone of his busy career. Only a few years ago did Mr. Hadley lay down the burdens of his active existence, and then the new and comfortable home was to serve as such only briefly. Death came to sunder a life-long relationship but for a few years only. Mr. Hadley came to the last great change as God would will it to His children-as the tired child to its mother's arms. Sleep and rest and after that the Dawn.

OBITUARY

Perry Macy Hadley, son of Thomas and Sarah Macy, was born near Mooresville, Indiana, December 4, 1845 and died at the home of his daughter in Des Moines, April 1, 1925, at the age of 79 years, 8 months and 27 days. He was next to the oldest of 12 children, six of whom are still living. He came to Iowa in 1875 and until three years ago lived continuously in or near Earlham. November 28, 1878 he was married to Evaline Allen, who died June 14, 1921 at her home in Earlham. To this union were born four daughters, Cora Applegate and Elva McKibben of Earlham, Anna Hinshaw of New Providence and Minnie Zeliadt of Des Moines, all of whom survive him.

A birthright member of the Society of Friends, he remained an active worker and a loyal supporter of all its interests throughout his life. His was a life of quiet service. He never desired publicity. His faith was unwavering and steadfast. In his last years as his strength failed and physical suffering overtook him the same quiet uncomplaining spirit possessed him, and with the odds against him, he overcame.

The illness of Mrs. Hinshaw, of New Providence, will prevent her attendance at the funeral at the Friends Church Friday afternoon. One brother, Edwin of West Branch will be able to attend the last rites.
