St. Charles and Roundabout

Mrs. Hannah Armstrong, aged about seventy-two years, died of dropsy at her home in this place on last Sunday afternoon. This estimable lady was the widow of Joseph P. Armstrong, who died some years ago, while living some 4 miles southwest of town. “Grandma” as she was familiarly called by those who knew, and for her nobleness so dearly loved her, will be sadly missed, alike by relatives and neighbors. Her entire life was that of a pure Christian, and devoted to the making of every one around her better and happier. When the civil war was raging she freely, and with her prayers and blessing, sent her two oldest boys to her country’s rescue, one of whom fills a soldier’s grave in a strange land. The other is an honored and respected citizen of St. Charles. Of her own family she leaves four sons, one daughter and a number of grandchildren. She had been a patient but a severe sufferer for several months, yet in the past few days was thought to be better. Consequently her death was a surprise at the time.

Note: Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
