Mrs. Ruth C. Sovereign died at her home in Winterset, at about fifteen minutes to 3 o’clock on the afternoon of December 12th, 1892. She was born in Chenango county, New York, March 26th, 1815 and at the time of her death was 77 years old. She was married to her bereaved husband, O. Sovereign, who survives her, near Rockford, Illinois, December 7th, 1842. The family moved to Winterset March 16th, 1883, where they have since resided.

On the ninth of last month she was prostrated with what proved to be her fatal disease. Mrs. Sovereign was a consistent Christian, loving her church with a love that never faltered from girlhood to old age.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Fred Harris, at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock on last Wednesday afternoon, who paid a loving tribute to the memory of the dead.
