Obituary

Died, at her late home in Des Moines, of diphtheria, on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 1892, little Bessie, older daughter of Marion and Eltha Archer. The patient little sufferer was sick only from the Saturday before, never uttering one fretful or complaining word. A child of remarkable patience and sweetness of disposition, unusually bright and thoughtful, and far beyond her years in understanding. A few minutes before parting with this life, she said,” Papa, do sick people go way up there?” pointing upward. Then she continued, “Am I very sick, papa? I saw two men crossing such a pretty river; good-bye, paps; good-bye mamma—don’t cry, I am all right.” Little Bessie was born Nov. 30th, 1885, dying on her seventh birthday anniversary. “Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
