Miss Elsie Hawk, daughter of Mrs. Ellen Hawk, of Jackson township, died this week under very sad circumstances. About six weeks ago, while attending school in Winterset, it was noticed that her mind was affected, and she was taken home, but instead of improving, as was hoped, she rapidly grew worse, finally refusing to take nourishment. It was decided to take her to Clarinda, where she could have the benefit of the advice of the specialists on insanity. A start was made by way of Creston, and while her relatives were waiting to hear of her safe arrival, a dispatch came on Wednesday saying that she had died, but whether at Clarinda or on the way was not stated.
