Arthur Marcellus Cook, a native of Madison county and for many years a resident of this community, died November 2, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Harry Frey of Earlham. He had made his home with Mrs. Frey for the past six years.
Mr. Cook was born October 13, 1882, on a farm east of Earlham. He was the son of Arthur L. and Anna R. Cook. As a boy he moved with his parents to Winterset growing to manhood here. He began working for the United States Express company here, later being transferred to Des Moines and then to Chicago. He was with the firm for 20 years, until his health forced his retirement. He then returned to Winterset, working on a farm for a time before going to live with Mrs. Frey.
As a boy he received his religious training in the Presbyterian faith. He was a member of the Sons of Veterans, Tuttle camp, Des Moines.
He is survived by two brothers. G. W. and R. E. Cook of Des Moines, his sister, Mrs. Frey and three nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 4, at Welch’s funeral home, in Earlham, with the Rev. Mr. Bock, officiating. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
