Anna Jean Clark

Anna Jean, older daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Clark, was born at Winterset, Iowa, February 6, 1923, and departed this life at her home in Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday morning, April 3, 1935, at the age of 12 years, 1 month and 28 days.

She lived in Winterset, until five years old when she moved with the family to Knoxville, Iowa. Here Anna Jean began her school life with the experiences of girl with many friends, enjoying them all. When 10 years of age she moved with her parents to Des Moines, and attended Hubbell school. She was in the Roosevelt Junior high school when she was taken ill at Thanksgiving time with scarlet fever, followed by mastoids and other complications. Her heroic cooperation with the doctors won the hearts of all those caring for her.

Besides her parents she is survived by a sister, Dawn Irene, her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Clark and Mrs. Lillie E. Waechter, all of Winterset. Her two uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Grover Baker of Peru and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Clark of Winterset, one cousin, Willa Baker of Peru, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at Dunn’s funeral home Friday afternoon at 1:30 conducted by Rev. W. J. Fowler, a friend of the family who was their pastor at Knoxville. Short commitment services were held at Winterset, the place of interment.
