We are pained to chronicle the death of Mrs. Garrett Orahood, which occurred early Monday morning, July 25th, after a protracted illness resulting from a cancerous tumor. The funeral occurred Monday p.m. at Penn Center, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Shearer, of Colfax.

Mrs. Victoria Orahood was born in Cass county, Ill., March 25, 1836; married to Garrett Orahood in September, 1860, in McDonald county, Ill; moved to Madison county in 1868, where they have since resided; died July 21, 1892, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Schlarb, of Earlham. She was the mother of seven children, all of whom are living; all except the oldest son, Kelly Orahood of Louisiana were present to witness the last suffering of the mother they loved so well. Mr. Orahood, the stricken husband, Mrs. Mattie -----, of Des Moines, Mattie Alice, of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Lena Schlarb, Mrs. Ma--- Dayton and Harvey Orahood were present at the funeral services. The deceased possessed a large circle of friends, relatives who mourn the loss of a good and noble woman. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Shearer at the Penn Center church, Monday, July 25, at 1 p.m.
Note: Burial was made in the Penn Center cemetery.
