The following notice of the death of Clarence Morton were handed in for publication by Rev. Heckathorn:
Clarence Emmett Morton was born in Walnut township, Madison county, Iowa, August 24th, 1871, and died at the same place July 20th, 1892. Clarence was a favorite among his young associates, and a kind and dutiful son to his widowed mother, his father having died about ten years ago. His mother and two sisters remain to mourn their loss. He has been afflicted for eight years, during which time he was a great sufferer. He was called to rest at just the age when he might have been a support and comfort to his mother. When told that his end was near he expressed himself as willing to go, requesting his friends to meet him in heaven. He then said, “I want to go home,” and peacefully fell asleep. The funeral services were held at the home, after which he was interred in the Beam cemetery.
