May 3, 1899; p. 8

On last Monday Mr. J. A. Way, one of the teachers in the St. Charles school, received a telegram informing him of the sudden death of his father on that morning. The elder Mr. Jacob Way was well known in this vicinity, having for many years resided in Warren county, some four miles northeast of this city, but about fifteen years ago bought a home in St. Charles and removed thereto, where the family resided until the death of Mrs. Way three years ago. Mr. Way finally sold his property here and has since made his home with a daughter in Franklin county, Kansas, at which place he passed away as above stated, the immediate cause of death being heart failure. He was eighty one years of age, had been an unusually active, industrious and reliable gentleman, a thorough church worker, a devoted Christian and a man with an untarnished name.
