THE ANGEL CALLED DEATH

The Final Summons Comes to Several Homes in Madison County

Mrs. George McCaughan

Mrs. George McCaughan passed away in Long Beach, California on February 11 of heart failure. She spent her girlhood here being known as Emma McKnight. Chicago was her residence for many years. She leaves a son, Phillip and her husband. The daughter, Helen was a victim in the tragic fire at the Iroquois Theater in Chicago a number of years ago. Interment was in Des Moines on Monday.

Mrs. McCaughan Dead

Mrs. Emma McKnight McCaughan, wife of George McCaughan, former general claim agent of the Rock Island system, died in Long Beach, California Thursday. The funeral occurred in Des Moines Monday where they lived before going to Chicago.

Both Mr. and Mrs. McCaughan were raised in Winterset and were married here. They have one son surviving, Phillip. Their daughter, Helen, was burned to death in the fatal Iroquois theatre fire.
