Weekend accident Claims two lives
Third party listed in fair condition

A head-on automobile collision Saturday night on Highway 92 claimed the lives of two people.

Marilyn D. Schilling, 39, of Huxley, and Glenn Schilling, 8, also of Huxley, was transported to Blank's Children Hospital in Des Moines by Madison County Ambulance. On Monday, he was reported in fair condition.

The accident occurred at 6 p.m. Jan. 6 two and one-half miles east of Winterset of Highway 92, near the Martin-Marietta Quarry.

The Schilling vehicle was traveling eastbound on Highway 92 and the Schirm vehicle was traveling toward Winterset, according to the Iowa Highway Patrol.

According to the Highway Patrol report, Schirm's vehicle apparently crossed the center line and struck the Schilling vehicle head on. Highway Patrol officials said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The accident was investigated by the Iowa Patrol and the Madison County Sheriff's Department. The Winterset Fire Department also responded to the scene.

Marilyn Clague-Schilling, Huxley

Marilyn D. Clague-Schilling, 39, of Huxley, died Jan. 6, 1996 of injuries sustained in an auto accident near Winterset. Funeral services will be Thurs., Jan. 11, 1996 at 1:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Don Frank officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset cemetery. Visitation is today (Wed., Jan. 10) from 12-8 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

She was born Feb. 5, 1956 to Earl and Mary (Spurgin) Clague in Polk County. She married Ralph Schilling on July 2, 1978 in Ames. She was a cook with the Iowa State Food Service for the last 21 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ames and also worked as an Amway representative.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Surviving relatives include her husband; a son, Glen Michael Schilling of Huxley; her mother of Winterset; two brothers, Marvin Clague of Vallejo, Calif., and Marty Clague of Omaha, Neb.; and a sister, Margo Mallgren of Omaha, Neb.
