MATTIE LATHRUM DIES AT 87 YEARS

Mrs. Mattie Lathrum, a resident of the Truro community for more than half a century, died Thursday, July 18 at a nursing home in Des Moines. She was 87 years of age.

Mrs. Lathrum was a native of Clarke county where she was born December 1, 1878, a daughter of Crawford and Amerena Greig Cole. She was married to Jessie Lathrum in 1900.

She had been a member of the Truro Methodist church since 1923.

Surviving are a son, Keith Lathrum of Truro; two daughters, Mrs. Orel Turner of Des Moines and Mrs. Genive Nicholson of Sacramento, California; three sisters, Mrs. Celia Koch of Ft. Dodge, Mrs. Zella Eggams of Murray and Mrs. Lillian Goodrich of Des Moines; in addition to four grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Kale Funeral home in Truro conducted by the Rev. James Nicholson. Burial was made in the Young cemetery.
