Marian Mitchell was born April 30, 1919, near Earlham, the daughter of Ira and Hannah Christine (Blohm) Cox. She graduated from Earlham High School, and worked as an operator for ATT in the Indianola area for a few years. She married Gerald Mitchell on Aug. 23, 1941, in Missouri just prior to Gerald enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. She loved her garden and working with flowers and her yard. She enjoyed traveling with Gerald around the country and would attend all the school and athletic events of her son, Larry. She also loved spending time with her granddaughters.

She is survived by her son, Larry Mitchell of Dubuque; two granddaughters, Heidi and Heather Mitchell of Dubuque; and one sister, Ramona Tuttle of Elma.
