December 2004James E. Bobenhouse, 59, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, December 24, 2004, in St. Luke Hospital from an accident. Services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30 at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial was in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Lori Wunder of First Presbyterian Church officiated.
Survivors include his wife, Lori; a daughter, Sarah of Iowa City; a son, Andrew of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Helen Hunter of Marion; a brother, Richard Bobenhouse, wife Crete and children Sharon Murrer, Patricia Bobenhouse, Richard Bobenhouse, Steve Nall and Jeff Nall and wife Sue; his father-in-law, Edwin Hemphill, and mother-in-law, Joan, of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Lisa Morris, husband Dave, and children Adam Morris and Chris Morris; two step-sisters, Peg Schafer of Earlham and Liz Christensen of Orlando, Fla.; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan; and his step-father, Fred Hunter.
James was born March 19, 1945, in Earlham, the son of Harlan and Helen (Anderson) Bobenhouse. He married Lori Hemphill on June 26, 1982, in Cedar Rapids. James was an attorney at law and had practiced for more than 30 years.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Linn County Bar Association, Iowa State Bar Association and was previously the assistant attorney general of Iowa and Legal Counsel for Cargil Incorporated. James loved traveling, fishing, boating and was a gourmet cook.
Note: James Bobenhouse was an Earlham High School graduate with the class of 1963.
