Hilda Sandusky, 81, Clear Lake, IA, died Sunday, February 6, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 12, 2005 at the United Methodist Church, in Clear Lake, IA with the Rev. Jan Burnett and Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Visitation with the family will be held at 1 p.m. until the service at the church. According to her wishes, her body has been cremated. An inurnment will take place at a later date in the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Hilda Sandusky Memorial Fund.

Hilda was born December 8, 1923 in Winterset, IA, the daughter of William Burt and Lucy Jane (Davidson) Rinard. She graduated from DeSoto High School in 1941. She excelled on the high school basketball team and was a starter all four years. She went to California to work for the Douglas Aircraft Plant. She was married to Charles "Charlie" Sandusky December 9, 1945 in Earlham; to this union two children were born. Hilda was the office manager for Martin Marietta for 35 years, working in Earlham, Kensett, Garner, Portland, Fredericka, and Fertile. Hilda retired in 1992.

Hilda loved bingo, crocheting, writing poetry, gambling at Treasure Island and Las Vegas, all kinds of crafts and collecting bells. Hilda was a member of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxilliary.

Hilda is survived by her husband, Charles "Charlie" Sandusky of Clear Lake; daughter, Marcia Pitzenberger (Edward) of Claremont, MN; grandchildren, Aaron Pitzenberger (Deborah) of Lake Mills, Brian Pitzenberger and his special friend Shauna of Kasson, MN, Scott Pitzenberger and fiance Heidi Hagen of Lakeville, MN, Jeff Pitzenberger of Minnetonka, MN, and Anisha Pitzenberger and her special friend Landon Koss of Brookings, SD; great-grandchildren, Colby and Ella Pitzenberger; sisters, Mary Mintle of Des Moines and Bonnie Feldman (Robert) of Van Meter; along with many nieces and nephews; family and friends.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, W. Jane Sullivan; brothers, Harold Rinard, Russell Rinard and Carold Rinard; and sisters, Rosa Mae Rinard, Evelyn Bomar and Peggy Cunningham.
