Charles M. Duff

Charles Milton Duff, born on March 24, 1877 in Madison County, Iowa, died at the age of 78 at the Hood River hospital on May 13 after an illness of about a week.

Funeral services were held May 16 at 2 p.m. at the Anderson funeral home with the Rev. B. Ross Evans and Rev. Dowell A. Callis officiating.

Interment followed at the Knights of Phthias cemetery.

The years between 1877 and 1955 were full ones for C. M. Duff. He spent his boyhood on an Iowa farm. In December 1897 he was married to Otilla Bast who survives him.

To this union were born four sons, Rollo Orland of Hood River, Robert Errol of Portland, Lyman Ival of Inglewood, Cal., and Raymond Milton of Story City, Ia. Two sisters, Eleanor E. Logan and Zelma G. Wilson, both of Long Beach, Cal., also are survivors.

In the mid-west Mr. Duff was a railroad man. In 1936 he moved to this valley where he was a fruit rancher for many years. He was a member of the Christian church.

Charles Milton Duff was born on March 24th, 1877 in Madison county, Iowa, the third child of a family of five children. On May 13th, 1955 he departed from our presence at the age of 78 years, one month and 20 days. The years between 1877 and 1955 were full ones for him and for all who came in contact with him.

His boyhood was spent on an Iowa farm. He grew to manhood among many relatives and friends. On December 1st, 1897 his life was joined in marriage to Otilla Bast who survives him.

To this union were born four sons, Rolla Orland of Hood River; Robert Errol of Portland; Lyman Ival of Englewood, California; and Raymond Milton of Story City, Iowa; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Ella Rogan and Velma Wilson both of Long Beach, California, also remain to mourn him.

In 1936 Mr. Duff moved to Oregon from Earlham. In addition to his family he leaves a host of friends who will cherish his memory. His whole life was characterized by an intense love for and interest in his fellowmen. His constant friendliness and cheerful love of life will remain an inspiration to all of us.
