MARY JANE LUNT

Mary Jane Redfield, daughter of Reul and Mary Redfield, was born in Rushville, Schuyler county, Ill., on Sept. 10, 1835 and died at Winterset, Iowa, aged 83 years and 5 months.

While yet a small child her father died and the family moved to Clinton county, Iowa. At the age of 20 she was married to Phillip Konkle, an attorney located at Camanche, Iowa. To them were born six children, the only one now living being T. W. Konkle, who has recently located in Winterset. Mrs. Konkle was left a widow by the death of husband in the Civil War. For some time she lived in Kellogg but in 1883 moved to Bagley, which has been her home most of the time since. In later life she was married to R. L. Lunt, but after six years was again left a widow.

Three weeks ago she came to Winterset to spend a few months with her son's family. About ten days later she was overtaken by her final illness. Everything possible was done to relieve her condition but at her advanced age she was unable to rally and passed away about midnight, Feb. 5th, 1919.

She is survived by her son, T. W. Konkle, a sister, Mrs. Belle Pritchard, who lives at Woodbine, Iowa; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and two niees, Mrs. Ed Hyder and Mrs. John Catterlin.

Funeral services were conducted from the Konkle home on Friday afternoon by Rev. Jackson Giddens and burial made in Winterset cemetery.
