OBITUARY

Samuel Edward Hutzell

Samuel Edward Hutzell, son of Henry and Susan Hutzell, was born October 31, 1869 at Mount Morris, Illinois. He was the eldest of twelve children. When a small boy he came with his parents to Dallas county, Iowa. For the past twenty-five years he has lived on a farm south of Earlham. In 1893 he was united in marriage to Daisy Evelyn Fenn of Adel. To this union were born thirteen children, two of whom died in infancy.

He departed this life February 26, 1938, after many months of failing health and patient uncomplaining suffering. He was a kind loving husband and an affectionate father, a great lover of home.

The sincerity of his faith was written in a daily life of quiet, unassuming goodness. It can well be said, "To know him was to love him."

He is survived by his wife Daisy Evelyn and eleven children; Ralph, Lloyd and Maurice Hutzell and Mebel Barnett of Linden; Lela McCarty, Arel Roberts and Violet Hutzell of Perry; Ethel Melton of Van Meter; Ora Strong of Earlham; Roy Hutzell of Algona and Lawrence Hutzell of Early. Also twenty-two grandchildren, six sisters, four brothers and many other relatives and friends.
