Obituary

Warren R. Phillips was born in Onondaga county, New York, December 8th, 1859 and died near Winterset, Iowa, December 18, 1891, aged 32 years and 10 days.

He came to Marshall county, Iowa in 1864 and to Madison county in 1878. When two years old he fell from the upper floor of a room and sustained great bodily injuries from which he was sorely afflicted all his life. This misfortune he endured with remarkable resignation and fortitude. His was a modest and retiring disposition; his life was blameless; he was ever a man of noble and upright deportment.

Although not a member of church he some time ago told a friend that he was serving God to the best of his knowledge.The sickness that ended his earthly life was brief, and at 15 minutes pat 3 p.m. on last Monday his spirit, leaving its tenement of clay, went to its eternal home and found its rest.

The funeral services were held at the house, Rev. Heckathorn offering words of comfort. He was laid to rest in the Gordon cemetery.
