Page 1Death of John Cline
John Cline died at his home in Penn township on last Thursday after a brief illness of about ten days. He was in Winterset not long ago and was apparently in the best of health. He had recently turned over to his son the management of his farm in Jackson township and bought a small farm near Dexter, with the intention of spending the rest of his life in retirement from active labor.
Mr. Cline was widely known and highly respected among his acquaintances in the west part of the county. He had been a resident of this county for 50 years having moved here from Louisa county when 5 years of age, locating near Douglas center. From this place he moved to the farm in the west part of Jackson township, which he still owns. He leaves a wife, son and two daughters to mourn his loss.
