Marianna Ledlie

Marianna Ledlie was born the daughter of Chester and Ruby Davis Ledlie in Lake Arthur, New Mexico on October 6, 1914, and died at the Ramsey Village Care Center in Des Moines on December 10, 2007 at the age of 93 years, 2 months and 4 days. Marianna graduated from the Earlham High School and worked at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 37 years. She never married or had any children of her own, however she was special to all her nieces and nephews and loved them very much. Marianna was a member of the Earlham Methodist Church and the Rebecca Lodge of Earlham. She was always working and helping out within the Earlham community whenever possible. Marianna loved feeding and watching birds. The cardinals were her favorite. She loved to garden, sew and was a great cook, and she shared her knowledge on all these activities with all the children in her life. Aunti Mae, as her family called her, was a fun loving spirit who was always ready for adventure. Her opinion mattered and her values will remain with us forever.

Marianna is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Opal Wood and brother-in-law Tom Wood.

Funeral services were held December 13, 2007 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery. Kuhn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Marianna Ledlie, age 93, died Monday December 10, 2007 at Ramsey Village Care Center in Des Moines. Joint funeral services with her brother-in-law Thomas Wood will be 2 p.m. Thursday December 13, 2007 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, where the family will greet friends from noon until service time. Burial will follow in the Earlham Cemetery.

Marianna graduated from Earlham High School and worked for Northwestern Bell until her retirement. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held for Marianna Ledlie at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, Iowa.

Pastor Linda Burnett of the Earlham Friends Church in Earlham officiated. Special music was by Charlotte Church, “Just Wave Hello” and “The Last Rose of Summer”.

Pallbearers were Emily Wood, Sarah Wood, Andrea Naylor, Jessica Simmons, Misty Steingrabe, and Karen Raba.
