Obituary

Louisa Butterfield Tarbell died at her home in Lincoln township on October 18th, at quarter past seven o’clock. She had been a sufferer for seven years but had only been confined to her bed four weeks, and passed away very suddenly.

Mother Tarbell was born in Wilton, Maine, August 17th, 1808, and was at the time of her death 83 years, 2 months and one day old.

She was joined in matrimony to Mr. William Tarbell, May 18, 1837, who died April 25th, 1889. They came to Iowa in 1848 and she has been a resident of Madison county for 23 years.

She was converted when 12 years old, and joined the M. E. church, but after coming to Iowa she joined the Baptist church. She has tried to live a good Christian life and was a great bible reader to the last. When they talked of building the church, she wanted to give something for it.

She leaves five children, two sons and three daughters to mourn her loss.
