Page 1DEATH OF MRS. L. H. HILLS
The death of Mrs. L. H. Hills, a resident of Winterset for most of her life, occurred here June 23. She had been in ill health for the last two years. She was 61 years of age.
Mrs. Hills was born Cora Hoadley at Eddyville, Iowa, on March 8, 1874. With her parents she came to Winterset as a child. She was married to L. H. Hills in 1895. With the exception of about a year in Des Moines she lived the remainder of her life here.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a son, Robert Hills of Oakland, California, and two daughters, Mrs. William Wheeler of Monterey, California, and Mrs. Gleason Rippey of Glendale, California. A daughter, Nelle, preceded her in death.
Funeral arrangements were being postponed pending the arrival of the children from California.

Cora Hoadley, daughter of George W. and Hannah Fox Hoadley was born at Eddyville, Iowa, March 8, 1874. On Sunday morning, June 23, 1935, at her home in Winterset she closed her eyes in peaceful sleep and entered into that eternal home where Sabbath’s never end.
She was united in marriage with Leonard H. Hills, July 4th, 1896. Four children were born to them three of whom are living. Robert C. Hills of Oakland, California; Mrs. Pearl Wheeler of Monterey, California and Mrs. Verda Rippey of Pasadena, California and Nellie Ruth, deceased.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, a charter member of the auxiliary to the American Legion, a member of the Arc-en-cell club and the Royal Neighbor lodge. She was a true and faithful wife, a loving mother, a kind daughter, a loyal helpful neighbor and friend. Those of her immediately (immediate) family who survive are her husband and the three children with their families; her aged father, her sister, Mrs. Sophia Friel of Des Moines and John Hoadley, her brother of Pennsylvania; a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
The kind neighbor, the true friend, the faithful wife and the devoted mother passed suddenly to her reward. Hers was truly a life well spent.
Funeral services for Mrs. L. H. Hills was held at the Christian church Friday morning, June 28th, at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis, assisted by Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Singing was by Mrs. Vernon Clark and Mrs. Florence Simpson, with Mrs. Olmstead as pianist. Members of the American Legion were pallbearers and members of W. R. C. acted as honorary pallbearers. The Legion Auxiliary and Royal Neighbors attended in a body.
