Blood Poisoning Resulting From Carbuncle Proves Fatal
Ralph J. Lytle, 28-year-old former Winterset youth, died at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines September 12 after an illness of three weeks.
Death was caused by blood poisoning which resulted from a carbuncle.
Lytle was the son of W. A. Lytle of Winterset. He was reared in this community and attended the public schools here, graduating from the Winterset high school with the class of 1926. He later attended Des Moines university, and completed his education with two years at the State University of Iowa at Iowa City, graduating there in 1930.
Following his graduation he obtained a position with the General Motors company at Des Moines, where he was a truck salesman. He was married about two years ago.
In addition to his widow, and his father in Winterset, he is survived by three sisters, Martha Ann and Roseann Lytle of Winterset, and Mrs. Rose Wasson, also of Winterset.
Funeral services were held from Dunn’s funeral home in Des Moines last Saturday, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Ralph Lytle, 28, son of W. A. Lytle of Winterset, died Thursday at 7 a.m. in the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines after three weeks illness with toxic pneumonia. His home was in Des Moines where he was connected with the General Motors Truck company.
Mr. Lytle lived in Madison county most of his earlier life. He was born in St. Charles December 20, 1906, and with the exception of four years the family spent at Carson, his home was in this county until he finished high school. The Lytle family has lived in Winterset the last twenty years.
He was graduated from the Winterset high school in 1926, and attended Des Moines university and the State university at Iowa City, receiving his bachelor of arts degree in 1930. He was active n college athletics, was made a cheer leader and worked all the time he was in school. His pleasing personality and ambition won for him many friends.
His marriage to Lois Graham took place November 26, 1932. He is survived by his wife, his father, and by three sisters, Mrs. Ross Wasson of Van Meter, Martha Jean and Rosanne Lytle. His mother died March 3, 1932.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Dunn funeral home in Des Moines, with short services at the cemetery in Winterset.
