Mrs. Jane M. (Gamble) Reed was born in Franklin county, Penn., Sept. 12, 1818, being baptized and trained in the Covenanter church. P. church in 1858. About the same time she moved to Kansas, and in 1866 to Madison county, Iowa, where, after fifteen years of suffering, she died on November 24, 1891. Her husband and five children still survive.

Those residing in this county and who were present at the funeral are: John R., Macksburg; Mrs. Hiram McCandless and Miss Maggie, Patterson. Also Andrew, near Greenfield. The remaining son, Thos. G., lives in Winneshiek county. Her friends hope that it is now well with her.
