Melinda Cox Rogers, aged resident of Winterset, died at her home Wednesday, January 15th. She was 89 years of age, being born January 31, 1846 in Ohio and had she lived until the last of this month, would have been 90 years of age.
She came from Ohio to Iowa in 1861 with her parents and in 1868 they located in Madison county. On Christmas day of 1869 she was married to W. P. Rogers. To this union eight children were born; two of them died in infancy, a son James Edward in 1894 and a daughter Mrs. W. R. Steward in 1917. Mr. Rogers died in 1928.
Grandma Rogers, as she was commonly called, joined the Methodist church in Webster a number of years ago. She was apparently in good health, until a few hours before her death. For the past 25 years she has made her home with her son Winfield and daughter Edith.
