Wednesday, January 29, 1919OLIVO TOSON Killed By Shrapnel Wound
In a letter received last night Sergt. Harry McCombie, who belongs to the Medical Corps, of the 168th Regiment confirms the death of Olivo Toson, reported by the government several weeks ago.
Olivo was killed on October 18, 1918, at Hill 288, for the capture of which the brigade was cited by the division commander. After the battle Olivo was on detail cleaning up the battlefield which was shelled at intervals by the Germans. A piece of shrapnel struck him on the head killing him instantly.
George Wilkinson was killed in the same battle and Alvin Hench was wounded and taken prisoner. Hench was later reported dead.
