REX MEACHAM, Killed in France

Rex Meacham was killed in action in France October 9, 1918, according to a letter received yeserday by his father, H. E. Meacham. The letter was from his captain, and told how Mr. Meacham, who was with the ambulance force, had given first aid to the men in his comany when he was hit by a piece of shrapnel and died almost instantly.

This was the first death in the company, and it is believed that he died in his first battle. A few days ago his father received a letter saying that he was close behind the lines waitng to be called into action.

He was 22 years of age and was born in Winterset, Iowa, in February, 1896. He graduated from the Flathead county high school with the class of 1917. He left Kalispell for Camp Lewis with the contingent of April 27, 1918. - -
