Joseph Downs was born in Kinmundy, Ill., March 18, 1890, the son of Melvin and Mattie Downs. He died in France in action, May 27, 1918.
His widowed mother, three sisters and five brothers survive him, one brother being on his way overseas. He enlisted in the summer of 1917 in Co. A, while living in Patterson and loyally supported the company until his death occurred on the same day as that of Lieut. Green.
