De SotoO. Fletcher Cron, 77, a long-time De Soto resident, passed away December 23, 2007 at Adel Acres in Adel.
Services will be 11 AM Thursday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel. Friends may call after 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home in Adel where family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. At Fletcher's request he will be cremated after the srvices, then burial at Oakland Cemetery at De Soto at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to the De Soto United Methodist Church.
Fletcher was born December 23, 1930 in Earlham, Iowa to Zola and James S. Cron. He graduated from De Soto High School in 1949. Fletcher and Arlene Hoy were married April 27, 1952. He worked for Lennox Industries for 25 year, retired from Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 1994 and most recently was employed at West Central Car Auction.
He served on the De Soto City Council and spent many years as mayor. Fletcher was a member and trustee of the De Soto United Methodist Church.
Fletcher enjoyed his family, music, woodworking, reading and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Waive (Nile) McKibben; brother A. D. (Pauline) Cron; sister-in-law, Judy Cron; and son-in-law John Romeo, Sr.
Fletcher is survived by his beloved wife, daughter Cynthia Romeo; daughter, Brenda (Dennis) Schuring; granddaughter Tamara (Chas) Jones; grandson Benjamin Schuring; sisters, Helen (Jerry) Gordon and Juanita (Fred) Harrison; brothers Jim, Bart (Pat), Merle, Jerry (Linda), Larry (Donna) and many nieces and nephews.
