Roy Putnam of Montana was called here by the serious illness of his mother, Mrs. George P. He arrived Thursday morning, a few hours after her death.
Mrs. Putnam died Thursday morning after a long illness. The funeral was held at the home Saturday morning and burial in the Winterset Cemetery.

Helen Mae King was born May 26, 1853, in Concord, New Hampshire, and departed this life June 12, 1919, at the age of 66 years, 16 days.
On December 24, 1877, she was married to G. W. Putnam at Grundy Center, Iowa. Four children were born to this union, Archie Lewis, who died in infancy, Roy of Phillips, Montana, Mrs. C. E. Husted and Frances of this place.
She came to Iowa at the age of 13 and has lived in the immediate neighborhood for twenty years. Having been in poor health the greater part of this time and since her husband’s death the 4th of last October has been confined to her room with cancer. Having shown great patience through her suffering and always considerate of those around her. A loving and sunny disposition is the memory she leaves with all her friends.
