Glenn Earl Allen, Winterset

Services for Glenn Earl Allen, 65, Winterset, who died Dec. 4 at the Winterset Care Center North, were held Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Collins Funeral Home with services conducted by VFW Post 8142. Burial was at Mt. Pelier Cemetery at Patterson.

Born in Crawford township of Madison County on Feb. 8, 1920, he was the son of Richard Earl and Ester Estella McMichael Allen. On Sept. 9, 1946, he was married to Elsie Allen at the Winterset Christian Church.

A lifetime resident here, he was self-employed and operated Allen Carpet Cleaning in Winterset. Mr. Allen was an Army veteran of World War II in the European Theater. He was a member of the VFW and the Winterset Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Glenn Edward Allen of Winterset; a daughter, Patty Lou Hamner of Winterset; brothers, Robert Allen of Martensdale and Ernest J. Allen of Des Moines; sisters, Mary Povich of Denver, Colo., and Faye Schumacher of Conger, Iowa; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

WINTERSET, IA – Services for Glenn E. Allen, 65 of Winterset, who died of cancer Wednesday at the Winterset Care Center North, will be at 1:30 Saturday at Collins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Pelier Cemetery in Patterson.

Mr. Allen was born in Madison County and was a lifelong resident of Winterset. He was owner of Allen Carpet Cleaning and a member of Winterset VFW Post No. 8142.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie; a son, Glenn Edward of Winterset; a daughter, Patty Hamner of Winterset; two brothers, Robert of Martensdale and Ernest of Des Moines; two sisters, Mary Povich of Denver, Colo., and Faye Schumacher of Conger; and five grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Collins Funeral Home.
