James Elder Young

James Elder Young, son of Milton and Mary Young, was born October 29, 1877, in Madison county, Iowa, and passed away November 21, 1935 at the age of fifty-eight years and twenty-three days.

On March 14, 1906 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Craig of Truro, Iowa. To this union three children were born. Margaret of Peoria, Illinois, Emogene (now Mrs. R. E. Brown of Oakville, Iowa, and Forrest, residing at home.

In addition to his wife and children he is survived by three grandchildren. Patricia Young, Irvin Brown and Jo Ann Brown. Two brothers, Ira and Will and one sister, Linda, all of St. Charles.

During his entire life he has lived in the locality of St. Charles and for the greater part of the past thirty years he has made his home in the Science Hill neighborhood.

His circle of friends was large because he possessed the capacity of easily making friends and retaining those friendships when formed. He was a man deeply interested in the social and business activities of the community, well posted on the farmer as well as other business with which he came in contact. His acquaintance was made wider by his activities in connection with his insurance work.

The latter years of his life were made particularly hard because of physical infirmities under which, he bore up with remarkable fortitude and he continued to lead an unusually active life until a year ago when his health completely failed.
