DEATH OF MRS. SPRAGG

Long Illness Ended Sunday for Union Township Resident

Mrs. Lizzie Spragg, 74 year old Union township resident, died at her home, about eight o’clock Sunday morning, after an extended illness. Mrs. Spragg was the daughter of Patrick and Elizabeth Nolan, and was born in Iowa City.

She came to this county, with her parents, when she was a small child, and has since made her home in this community. In 1883, she was married to Jay Spragg, and they were the parents of one son, Richard Wallace, who died when he was seven months of age. Mr. Spragg also preceded his wife in death.

She leaves two brothers, Joseph M. Nolan of Colony, Kansas, and John Nolan of Union township, and a number of nieces and nephews. Two brothers and two sisters had preceded her in death, Lawrence and N. J. Nolan, and Mrs. Annie Kirby and Mrs. James McNamara.

The Rev Wm. Hahessy conducted Requiem High Mass for her, Tuesday morning, October 15th, at nine o’clock at St. Joseph’s Catholic church in Winterset. The body was taken to St. Patrick’s cemetery in Lee township for burial, beside her husband, and son, and short services were conducted at the grave. Six nephews served as pall bearers: Joseph Nolan, Jr. of Colony, Kansas, John McNamara of Mexico, Missouri, Lee Nolan of Ft. Dodge and Phillip Nolan and Frank and Dom McNamara of Winterset. A large number of Madison county friends attended the services and drove to St. Patrick’s for the burial rites.
