Death of Arthur E. Howell

Arthur Elmer Howell, life long resident of Madison county, died at his home, near Truro, last Tuesday, January 15th, after an extended illness. He was 67 years of age, and had been in poor health for the past five years. He had been practically blind, and last September he became ill with heart trouble, which caused his death.

The deceased was a son of Nelson and Margaret Howell and was born in Crawford township, May 9, 1867. Here he grew to manhood and was married to Minnie Caskey, June 7, 1890. They lived in Crawford township on a farm, until eight years ago, when they moved to a farm near Truro, where they have since resided.

He is survived by his wife and five children: Carroll of New Virginia; Mrs. Ethel Seams of Truro; Mrs. Miriam Durand of Patterson; Mrs. Doris Gray of Winterset; and Morris at home. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Mary Smith of Van Meter, Ida, George and David, all of Patterson.

His funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Patterson Friday, January 18th with the Rev. E. H. Patterson in charge and burial was made in the Montpelier cemetery.
