Irene Fern Wycoff

Irene Fern Wycoff was born to Olive E. and Newton Y. Wycoff at Harper, Kansas, March 12, 1901, and departed this life together with babe, Olive Jane, April 26, 1935, aged 34 years, 1 month and 14 days.

She moved with her parents in her infancy, to Moravia, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was graduated from high school there in 1918. From there the family moved to Indianola, Iowa, where she continued her education career at Simpson college to graduation in the spring of 1923.

While in college she was elected to Pi Kappa Delta, honorary forensic fraternity, and was active in Alpian literary circles.

She taught in the Patterson school during the season of 1920-21 and in Indianola high school in 1923-24.

She was converted and began her Christian life at an early age, in the Methodist church at Moravia, continuing her church activities throughout her entire life. In later life she taught the Young People’s Sunday school class and afterwards the Young Married People’s class in the Patterson Methodist church. She was also very active and faithful in all community affairs. Irene was beloved by all who knew her.

August 15, 1924, she was united in marriage to William Clarence Fogler to which union three children Elsie Blanche 8, Robert Lyman 6, and babe, Olive Jane were born.

Irene leaves to mourn her loss, besides her husband and two children, her father, N. Y. Wycoff of Winfield, Kansas and brother A. Emmett Wycoff of Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her mother on August 21, 1929.

DEATH OF MRS. W. C. FOGLER

Patterson – (Special) – Mrs. W. C. Fogler, popular young woman of this community, died at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines last Friday. A daughter, Olive Jane, who was born Friday also died.

Mrs. Fogler came to Patterson as a teacher in the high school. Following her marriage to W. C. Fogler several years ago, she and her husband established their home here. Word of her death came as a severe shock to her wide circle of friends here.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Patterson M. E. Church.
