DEATH OF JOHN H. BEAMER

Well Known St. Charles Business Man Passes After Brief Illness

St. Charles Special, May 27 – J. H. Beamer, St. Charles resident, died, Saturday morning, May 25th, at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He had been receiving treatment at the hospital, for the past three weeks. Mr. Beamer had been in poor health for about two years, but became seriously ill, and was taken to the hospital, for treatment. Following his death, a post mortem was held, disclosing a cancer in the stomach.

John Henry Beamer was the only child of Gustavus and Mary Beamer and was born in Floyd county, Virginia, October 16, 1867. On December 12, 1889 he was married to Victoria A. Callison in Nicholas county, West Virginia and in the fall of 1898 they moved to Macksburg. Here she died in 1904. In 1905 he was married to Rena V. Johnson of Macksburg, and they were the parents of a daughter Gertrude. In 1915 they moved to St. Charles, where they resided until just recently.

Mr. Beamer was 67 years of age, and for twenty years had been engaged in the hardware business in St. Charles. Only a few weeks ago he sold his store building here, and moved the stock to Macksburg, and last week, the family moved their household goods there.

He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Gertrude. He was a member of the I. O. O. F., Masonic, Rebekah and Modern Woodmen lodges.

Funeral services were held at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in Winterset, Tuesday afternoon, and burial was made in the Macksburg cemetery. The Rev. A. R. Weed had charge of the services.
