UNCLE BEN TINCHER DEAD

B. W. Tincher died at his home, Monday evening of this week, from acute pneumonia. Aged 70 years, 11 months and 19 days.

Mr. Tincher was born in the state of Kentucky, but removed with his parents while quite young to Indiana where grew up. Later he came to Iowa, from which state he enlisted in the 23rd Iowa Regiment of Infantry, and served about 1 year, receiving an honorable discharge.

He settled near St. Charles after the close of the war and has been known to old residents of the place for the past 30 years. He engaged mostly in farming. Of late he had been quite an invalid, having had a stroke of paralysis. Since being disabled he had been allowed a small pension. He was the father of ten children, six of whom survive him. Long will this community remember Uncle Ben Tincher.

By his request, the funeral was conducted by his comrades of the Grand Army. And nobly did they respond, for no more marked military display has been seen on our streets for a long time than that presented on the occasion of his burial.

The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Williams at the M. E. church.

The death of Mr. Tincher brings especial sadness to the REPORTER office. He was always a welcome caller here, and no man did we hold in higher regard.
