Sarah Blossom Brooks, daughter of the late Charles A. and Sarah E. Brooks, was born on April 16, 1888 in Jewel county, Kansas, and died at her home eight miles south of Winterset, Iowa, on February 18, 1935. She was united in marriage to James A. Sheldon at Onawa, Iowa, on March 27, 1903. They moved to Madison county on January 27, 1904, locating on the farm eight miles south of Winterset, which has been their home for the past thirty years.
Four children came to bless this home. James William, who died January 24, 1935; Mrs. Dorothy Lemon, Lorimor, Iowa; Mrs. Mildred Bush, Winterset, and Violet Florence at home. Those who mourn her death are the three children and the husband, James A. Sheldon, her mother, Mrs. S. E. Brooks, two brothers, William O. Brooks, Omaha, Nebraska; John H. Brooks, Tekoa, Washington, two sisters, Mrs. Violet Carney and Mrs. Daisy Low of Peru, Iowa and three grandsons and a host of relatives and friends.
She was a patient and uncomplaining sufferer for many years. During the past eight months she was confined to her bed.
The Rev. H. L. Olmstead conducted her funeral services at Tidrick’s funeral home at 10 o’clock, Thursday, February 1st.
