DEATH OF MRS. J. E. GOAR

Mrs. James E. Goar of Des Moines a former Madison county woman, died in Des Moines, April 5 at the age of 54 years.

Mrs. Goar was the former Jessie Fletcher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Fletcher. She was born May 31, 1880, and spent her early life on her father’s farm south of Van Meter. She attended the Van Meter public schools and in 1903 graduated from Drake university. She spent several years teaching in the public schools of Iowa and at Driggs, Idaho. On November 4, 1903, she married James E. Goar, and they have since made their home in Des Moines. She was a lifelong member of the United Brethren church, in which she was an active worker.

Mrs. Goar leaves her husband, her father, a brother, W. D. Fletcher, three sisters, Pearl Burnett of Seattle, Washington, Lois Jennings of Van Meter, and Edna Preston of Los Angeles, California, six nieces, and five nephews.

Funeral services were conducted from Dunn’s funeral home in Des Moines on April 7, and at the Jefferson U. B. church that afternoon. The Rev. E. A. Elliott of Des Moines was in charge. Burial was made in the Jefferson cemetery.
