Gene W. Farr, 67, of Oakdale, L. I., New York, died at Syosset Hospital, Syosset, L. I. March 19, 1987. Services were held at Sayville Methodist Church. Burial was at V. A. National Cemetery, Calverton, L. I.

Mr. Farr was born at Peru, Iowa, March 8, 1920 and lived there until entering military service. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army for four years, including two years in the European Theatre participating in the Normandy Invasion.

After discharge from the service he was employed by the New York Bell Telephone System and continued with them for 34 years. He was a Communications Consultant at the time of retirement and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

His parents, John G. and Laura Farr and two sisters, Frieda Hamand and Velda Clatterbaugh preceded him in death.

Survivors included his wife Evelyn, a son Garrett, wife Lauraine and grandson John G., two sisters, Lorraine Joy of Perry, Iowa and Gertrude Simmons, Winterset, Iowa
