Forrest Wright Henrichs, son of Charles Forrest Henrichs and Eva Cleo Wilkins Henrichs, was born March 24, 1924 in Thayer, Iowa. He passed away August 8, 2007 at Creston Nursing & Rehab Center in Creston, Iowa at the age of 83.
Forrest attended school in Hopeville and Thayer. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lucille Stephenson on December 17, 1947 in Peru, Iowa; their marriage was blessed with two children, Connie and Rick.
Forrest was a farmer; he worked for Carpenter Supply as a feed grinder before becoming a bus mechanic and bus driver for Bondurant/Farrar Schools. His last employment was mechanic at the downtown Des Moines Post Office, and he retired from that job after 10 years. He had lived in Creston for the past 5 years.
Forrest was an avid model train collector and even built an addition on his house in Thayer for his trains; he enjoyed doing mechanic work. He attended coffee groups in Murray. He was a member of Assembly of God Church in Creston and attended Kingsway Cathedral in Des Moines.
Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by daughter, Connie DeLong (Robert Worthman) of Chariton; son, Rick Henrichs (Helen) of Des Moines; grandchildren, Shelly Reed (John) of Creston, Fred DeLong of Creston, Crystal DeLong of Chariton, Jason Henrichs of Des Moines; step grandchildren, Tami, Brandy, Tracy, Terry and Scott; great grandchildren, Ashley Tracy, Christopher Reed, Michael & Kimberly DeLong, Teaira DeLong, Temika DeLong, Celone Mure, Tylia Mure; brothers, Dwayne Henrichs (Darlene) of Thayer and Harold (Cheryl) of Branson, Missouri; other relatives and many friends.
