FUNERAL AT BOXHOLM FOR IRWIN MEYER, 76

Funeral services for Irwin G. Meyer, former Madison county resident, were held Thursday Dec. 26, from the E.U.B. church at Boxholm, Iowa. Mr. Meyer died Dec. 23 at Boxholm following a lingering illness. He was 76 years of age.

The son of William F. and Mary Meyer, he was born Dec. 31, 1886 on a farm near Boxholm. He was educated in the rural schools of Grant township in Boone county. With the exception of the past 18 months, he spent his lifetime as an Iowa farmer-eight years near Dennison, 24 years near Boxholm, four years at Lorimor and 21 years near Winterset.

On Dec. 31, 1913 he was married to Ida Ohme at Geneseo, Ill. She preceded him in death in 1936. To this union, three daughters were born: Mrs. Hugo Sprecher, who died in 1956; Mrs. Marvin Hubby of Ogden; and Mrs. Walter Duehring, also of Ogden.

On Aug. 10, 1937 he was married to Esther Alberding of Clay Center, Nebraska. They were the parents of two sons: William F. of Winterset and Eugene A. of Des Moines.

Mr. Meyer was a charter member of the Renner Evangelical church at Boxholm. He served as Sunday school teacher at Boxholm and also at the First United Presbyterian church in Winterset. He was also an elder and clerk of the session in the Winterset church.

Surviving in addition to his wife and children are two sisters, Agnes Meyer of Boxholm and Grace Meyer of Fayette, Iowa; and nine grandchildren.

Officiating at the service last Thursday was the Rev. David Waterman. Burial was in the Renner cemetery near Boxholm.
