James D. Guisinger, the son of Edward and Anna Atterberry Guisinger, was born November 21, 1894 in Farmington, Arkansas. He passed away March 22, 1982 at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Jim spent his boyhood years in Arkansas bur moved first to Defiance, Iowa as a young man and then to Casey.
Jim served his country in the Army during World War I.
On December 13, 1919 Jim was united in marriage to Florence J. Nilges in Anita, Iowa. Three sons blessed their marriage.
In 1923 he began work with the Rock Island Railroad. He became a section foreman and continued working for the Rock Island until 1956 when he retired.
Jim and Florence have made their home in Earlham since 1954.
He was a member of the Dexter United Presbyterian church.
Survivors include his loving wife, Florence; three sons, James of Fairfield and Ralph and Ray of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Cynthia Niges of Panora, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were conducted March 24, 1982 at the McKee Funeral Home in Earlham, Iowa with Pastor Eldon Cole officiating. Casket bearers were Michael Guisinger, James Guisinger, Donald Guisinger, Roger Guisinger, Richard Guisinger and Gary Guisinger. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Casey, Iowa.
