HAZEL SINGLETON, Winterset

Hazel Irene Singleton, 97, of Winterset died Nov. 21, 2007, at her granddaughter’s home in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 24, at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield, Mo., with the Rev. Richard Davis officiating. Burial was in Purdin Cemetery.

Hazel Singleton was born Sept. 28, 1910, in Purdin, Mo., to Henry and Mattie (Kennedy) Buswell. Her marriage to Merle Wohler took place April 27, 1927. He preceded her in death in 1971. She later married George Singleton. Hazel worked at J.C. Penney and Stanbury Uniforms, where she retired. She also worked for The Kansas City Star as an assistant manager for northeast Missouri.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, Merle and George, and a sister, Velma Gabriel.
She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Meyers of Des Moines; and two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
