Last Wednesday brought sorrow into our town by the announcement that Isaac Kerns, whom we spoke of being sick last week, was dead. Mr. Kerns had lived in our little town 10 or 12 years, and the sympathizing friends for his family are many.
Isaac Kerns was born August 11, 1815, died March 20th, 1889, aged 78 years, 6 months and 8 days. On the 1st day of January, 1835, he and Rebecca Turrow were married. To them were born seven children, one girl and six boys. All lived to be grown up and married except the one next to the youngest, and he died in 1853, being but 1 ½ years old. Rebecca, his wife, was born Dec. 1st, 1816, and died Sept. 27, 1887, aged 71 years, 9 months and 27 days. John Kerns, the oldest son, died Jan. 20, 1889. Isaac Kerns joined the Christian church when he was about 21 years old, and has been a faithful follower of Christ ever since.
(Note: Isaac Kerns is buried in the Moon cemetery.)
