ISAAC NORMAN Dead At 85

Isaac Norman, 85, former Madison county resident, died Friday at his home in Des Moines.

Mr. Norman was born in Fresno, Ohio, in 1859 and in 1887 came to Johnson county, Iowa. In 1893 he moved to Madison county, living here until 1914 where he retired from active work and went to Des Moines where he since has lived.

He was a member of the Commandery and Consistory and a Mason for more than 60 years.

He is survived by three sons, Joe Norman of Houston, Texas, Earl Norman of Van Meter and Clarence Norman of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Nichols of Kidder, Missouri, and Mrs. John Steiner of Fresno, Ohio; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His wife died in 1914.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 at Dunn's funeral home in Des Moines with burial in Union Chapel Cemetery near Booneville, Madison County, Iowa.

Personal Items from Van Meter

Isaac N. Norman, a former resident of this community, passed away Friday night, October 4th, at the home of his son, Clarence Norman at 3318 Fifty-ninth St., Des Moines.

Mr. Norman was born in Fresno, Ohio in 1850 and in 1887 came to Johnson county, Iowa. In 1893 he moved to Madison county, locating on a farm in Jefferson township, where he lived until 1914 when he retired from active work and moved to Des Moines where he since has resided.

He was a member of the Command and Consistory and a Mason for more than sixty years. A celebration had been planned for Saturday night for pioneer lodge members more than 65 years old. At this ceremony, Mr. Norman was to have received a certificate for more than fifty years membership in the Masonic lodge.

He is survived by three sons, Joe Norman of Houston, Texas, Earl Norman of Van Meter, and Clarence Norman of Des Moines; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Nichols of Kidder, Missouri and Mrs. John Steiner of Fresno, California; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Dunn’s funeral home at 1:30 Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. E. A. Elliott. Burial was at Union Chapel cemetery in Jefferson township. The Masonic order assisted in both services. Quite a number from this vicinity attended.

In 1893 he moved to Jefferson Township in Madison county, living here until 1914 where he retired from active work and went to Des Moines where he has since lived.

He was a member of the Commandery and Consistory and a Mason for more than 60 years.

He is survived by three sons, Joe Norman of Houston, Texas, Earl Norman of Van Meter, and Clarence Norman of Des Moines; two sisters Mrs. Charles Nichols of Kidder, Missouri, and Mrs. John Steiner of Fresno, Ohio; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His wife Leah (Brown) died in 1914. His sons Charles and Norwood also preceded.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 1:30 at Dunn's Funeral Home in Des Moines; burial in Union Chapel Cemetery south of Booneville.
