A long fight against death ended for Mrs. Florence Cline Zern, October 3, 1935, when she succumbed to heart trouble at her home in Winterset.
The fatal illness lasted two months, during which time she was confined to her home. She was 72 years old.
Mrs. Zern was the daughter of William and Elizabeth Cline, and was born December 23, 1862, in Paris, Illinois. She was left an orphan at the age of seven, and lived with relatives in Loveland, Ohio until young womanhood. Then she moved to Hickory Ride, Illinois, to make her home with a sister.
On December 29, 1896, she was married to William Zern. They moved to Madison county in 1901, where they have since resided. They were the parents of four children.
Mrs. Zern was a member of the First Baptist church here for many years. She was also affiliated with the Eastern Star.
In addition to her husband she is survived by four children, Cyrus Ray Zern of Thayer, Missouri, Cline Zern Boynton of Spokane, Washington, Grace Elizabeth of Chicago, and Clarence Zern of Dallas, Texas, in addition to three grandchildren and one great grand child.
Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home in charge of the Rev. H. L. Olmstead. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
